The Anti-AI Content Checklist
I made a free checklist with every banned word, every overused phrase, and a tone filter you can run on any draft. Paste it into Saywhat, ChatGPT, or Claude and it'll catch the stuff that makes your writing sound like everyone else's.
Everyone is talking about how LinkedIn "banned AI content."
They didn't.
LinkedIn doesn't have access to your ChatGPT, Claude, or Saywhat subscription. They can't tell if you used AI.
But they can tell if it READS like AI.
The person scrolling past your post at 7am doesn't care what tool you used. They care whether it sounds like a real human wrote it.
Most people open up ChatGPT or Claude, type in a one-line prompt, and post whatever comes back. That draft has no voice, no specifics and no "you" in it.
There is nothing wrong with using AI but the raw output is never the finished product.
Remember, large language models just predict the most likely next word. The most likely word is often the most generic one.
That means your stories lose their weird quirks. And the quirks are what people actually connect with.
How To Tell If AI Hijacked Your Voice
1/ Shallow Stories
"Thinking of quitting your job? I've been there. Here are 5 ways..."
This is a classic tell - when there are no names, no numbers, no dates and no weird details.
Those are the things people want to hear. Without them, posts feel empty.
Instead, include hyper-specific details - names, "$245k" not "a large deal," "four weeks ago" not "recently".
2/ Perfect Cadence and Grammar
AI writes like a robot. Every sentence lands at the same pace and length along with perfect grammar.
But real people don't talk like that. Some of our sentences are short punches, others are longer explanations because that's how our brains work when we're talking through something we care about.
I say “so” and “in reality” a lot when I speak, so I make sure that is in my writing too.
The variation and imperfection IS our voice.
3/ Generic Contrast Hooks
AI loves these:
'It's not about working harder. It's about working smarter.'
'The problem isn't your skills. It's your mindset.'
'Success isn't about talent. It's about consistency.'
Instead, I would lean more into authority hooks - years of experience, results you’ve driven etc.
What Good Looks Like…
“I can't stop smiling when people say "NO".” - 7,853 reactions
“the Beatles AS a business model” - 4,174 reactions
“Four weeks ago I told my wife to quit her job.” - 4,139 reactions
“I skipped one meeting to chase $245k.” - 2,192 reactions
Notice what all these have:
Sentences that sound like they’re talking. Improper grammar. Details so specific it could only come from someone who actually lived it.
The good news is you already have these in you!
How To Fix It
I put together The Anti-AI Content Checklist you can use every time you write.
Drop it into Saywhat, ChatGPT, or Claude along with any voice recordings of you speaking.
Run it on your draft before you hit publish.
Then read your post out loud. If any sentence doesn't sound like something you'd actually say, tweak it.
See you next week,
Will
