📈 How 1 van became £30 million

Earlier this year, I met two British guys from Essex in a bar in Miami.

We got chatting and they told me about their business - an asbestos cleaning company in London… worth £30 million!

They'd been at it for 10 years by that point.

But when they started, neither of them had any background in asbestos removal. One had been in recruitment, got fed up, heard about an opportunity, and bought a van.

Their big break came when he got the chance to pitch a big university in London.

They asked him "how many vans do you have?"

At the time, he had one van. But he backed himself, said 8, thinking "I'll just figure it out".

He won the contract and guess what... he figured it out.

Fast forward 10 years and they've built their dream lives - Nic Fanciulli concerts in Miami, golf trips with their mates, five weeks a year in Marbella.

These guys weren't rocket scientists. These were just average guys who didn't overthink things.

Smart people often tie themselves in knots over big decisions rather than just saying "Yes, I'll figure it out".

If I think about my Stanford classmates and many people I've met on LinkedIn, a lot of them get stuck trying to make the perfect decision and worrying about problems that aren’t problems yet.

I even met someone who had 15 infographics prepared but was waiting for "the right time" to start posting. They still haven't started.

We can all figure out a lot more than we think.

You just need to put yourself in a position where you have to.

So next time you get an opportunity that feels scary, just say yes. You'll figure it out.
